The insulation materials business mainly produces electrical mica tapes, flexible composite insulation materials, laminated insulation products, insulating varnishes and resins, nonwoven fabrics, and electrical plastics. In 2022, we separated the new energy materials business from the insulation materials division, demonstrating our firm strategic commitment to the new energy field.

1. Power Generation: Dual Carbon Goals Support Demand, Capacity Expansion Drives Steady Performance

The dual carbon goals continue to push global growth. China has designated the photovoltaic (PV) industry as a strategic emerging industry. Under the dual drivers of policy and market demand, the industry has seen rapid development and has become one of the few sectors in China that is internationally competitive.

The backsheet base film is a critical auxiliary material for PV modules. Crystalline silicon solar modules typically consist of glass, encapsulation film, solar cells, and backsheet. The backsheet and encapsulant mainly serve to protect the cells. Mainstream PV backsheet structures consist of three layers: the outer fluoropolymer layer with excellent weather resistance, the middle base film with good insulation and mechanical properties, and the inner fluoropolymer/EVA layer with strong adhesion. The middle base film is essentially the PV backsheet film, and its demand is closely tied to that of the overall backsheet.

2. Power Transmission: UHV Construction in Progress, Insulation Business Remains Stable

Our key products in the UHV (Ultra High Voltage) sector are electrical polypropylene film and large-size insulating structural components. Electrical polypropylene film is an excellent dielectric solid material with advantages such as low dielectric loss, high dielectric strength, low density, good heat resistance, stable chemical properties, and energy efficiency. It is widely used in AC capacitors and power electronics, with demand closely related to the number of UHV construction projects.

As a leading enterprise in the UHV polypropylene film sector, we have a strong market share, large production capacity, robust R&D, advanced technology, and short delivery cycles. We have established stable supply relationships with major global UHV capacitor manufacturers. The large-scale planning and rapid construction of UHV projects are expected to drive upstream equipment and insulation material demand, supporting the stability of our traditional UHV insulation business.

3. Power Utilization: Rapid Growth of NEVs Drives High Demand for Ultra-Thin PP Films

The NEV (new energy vehicle) sector is growing rapidly with significantly rising penetration.
We have launched a new ultra-thin PP film production line, achieving domestic breakthroughs. Our main products for the NEV sector include ultra-thin electronic polypropylene films, metallized PP films, and composite materials, which are key raw materials for film capacitors and drive motors. Film capacitors for NEVs require PP films with thicknesses ranging from 2 to 4 microns. We are among the few domestic manufacturers capable of independently producing ultra-thin PP films for NEV applications. In 2022, we invested in a new production line with an annual capacity of around 3,000 tons, filling the gap in the high-end segment of the global film capacitor supply chain, which has long been dominated by companies such as Panasonic, KEMET, and TDK.

With the rapid development of the NEV industry, demand for film capacitors is accelerating, driving the demand for ultra-thin PP films. According to China Commercial Industry Research Institute, the capacitor market in China is expected to reach nearly RMB 30 billion in 2023, up 36.4% year-on-year. The continuous expansion of the capacitor market will further boost PP film demand.

Copper-clad laminates (composite copper foil) have a “sandwich” structure, with an organic film (PET/PP/PI) in the middle as a substrate and copper layers on the outer sides. They are typically manufactured using magnetron sputtering. Compared with traditional copper foil, composite copper foil retains the excellent plasticity of polymers while significantly reducing overall copper content, thus cutting costs. The insulating organic film in the middle enhances battery safety, making this material a highly promising current collector in the lithium battery industry. Based on PP film, our company is developing composite copper foil current collectors, expanding our product portfolio and actively exploring downstream markets.
